Discover how spoken word poetry can be a very useful tool for being a storyteller. In this two-hour workshop, we’ll explore techniques used in spoken word poetry for storytelling. You’ll learn how to craft compelling spoken word pieces that allow you as a writer and performer to tell stories. with a focus on clear, engaging, and visual language. Together, we’ll examine key elements in storytelling, character development, and effective spoken word poetry styles and techniques. Whether you're looking to develop better writing skills or using writing to deliver messages, this class will guide you in harnessing the power of spoken word poetry and storytelling.

Christopher D. Sims is a creative writer, a performance artist, as well as a social justice activist and organizer. A spoken word poetry master, he has written spoken word poems that have helped reshape communities and events. After writing "Poetry That Gives Birth To Revolution" Christopher began using spoken word poetry and social change issues to inform, impact, and empower. As an author, his seminal work entitled "Universal Citizen" (2013) ignited his ability to address issues happening in many communities in the United States. He regularly performs as a spoken word poet.
