**The same class will be taught for youths in grades 6-12 on the same day from 10:00am - 11:00am.**

The Porch is excited to continue its partnership with the Nashville Philharmonic Orchestra (NPO), a volunteer community orchestra that brings free performances to a wide variety of audiences throughout the year. In this special one-day workshop, we'll listen to excerpts from Gustav Mahler's Symphony No.2, which will be performed by the NPO in an upcoming concert (5/6 and 5/11). The instructor will guide you as you write sensory and emotional responses to the music. At the end, you'll have the option to share these responses to be printed and displayed at the NPO concert venues. Designed for listeners and writers of all levels. No prior knowledge of classical music required!

All concerts are free and open to the public. For more information, visit https://www.nashvillephilharmonic.org.

What Our Students Say

"Yurina is brilliant and so kind! You can tell she is passionate about writing, and she made difficult concepts easy to understand with a lot of examples and practice. She was also very mindful of making sure all students in the class were heard and had ample opportunities to participate at whatever level we were comfortable with."

"Yurina is a consummate professional as a teacher and sharer of knowledge. She was encouraging and helpful and constructed the class expertly with opportunities to participate. I learned things I'd never been taught before so it was challenging yet fun. I will be taking the next level class with Yurina at the Porch."

"Yurina is a wonderful instructor. She deeply engages with students and tailors lessons to meet budding writers where they are as she guides them towards where they could be as artists. More than that, she listens to her students and cultivates a safe, respectful and nurturing workshop environment. I will definitely seek out more classes with Yurina in the future!"
