Best-selling collaborative writers and editors Ami McConnell and Shannon Miller break down the oft-dreaded document into an enriching, joyful process that brings out the best in authors and their work. In this three-hour interactive, introductory workshop authors will learn:

- What a book proposal is and why you’d want one, even if you didn’t need it.

- The core elements of every stellar, sellable proposal.

- How to select smart comp titles that stand out.

- What to include in your promotion plan (and what not to.)

- The secrets of successful summaries and sample chapters.

- How to adapt your proposal to different audiences.

- The importance of bringing voice and tone to the table.

Ami McConnell is a writer, editor, and publishing consultant based in Nashville, TN. She formerly served as Editor-in-Chief and VP of Howard Books/Simon & Schuster. Before that she acquired and edited for HarperCollins where she helped launch a successful fiction imprint. Editing credits include numerous New York Times bestsellers and award-winning titles. Today McConnell works with celebrities and artists of all stripes to create bestselling books. She founded and directs WriterFest Nashville, a gathering for writers of book, song, and film. She lives with her family in Franklin, Tennessee.

Shannon Lee Miller is a best-selling collaborative writer and editor who works with authors, agents, and publishers to create content that is compelling, accessible, and empowering to readers. As a writing partner and developmental editor, her goal is to support courageous, unifying storytelling, create trusting relationships between authors and readers, and have a damn good time. Her book projects have gone on to become national bestsellers, receive starred reviews from prominent literary magazines, be optioned for film/TV, and garner praise from beloved authors and celebrities including Elizabeth Gilbert, Glennon Doyle, Dolly Parton, and Cheryl Strayed.
