So often, writers write with an express purpose in mind—to publish, make money, raise awareness, promote. We can easily forget that the deepest invitation to us is to write, not so much to publish or produce, but to connect with our innermost beings, listening closely to what capital ‘S’ Spirit (whatever that means to us) and lower case ‘s’ spirit that lives within us.
What might it feel like to create time and space for open-hearted, curious, generous, and free writing? What might we learn about ourselves? What might we learn about our writing? How might writing as spiritual practice transform the other pieces we write? This 3-week class invites you to cultivate a posture of openness and wonder toward self, others, Spirit, and the written word. Each week, we’ll engage different forms of writing as spiritual practice, enjoy time to freely write in response to open, honest prompts, and encourage one another by listening with kindness and compassion.
