The Porch is thrilled to continue its partnership with the Nashville Philharmonic Orchestra (NPO), a volunteer community orchestra that brings free performances to a wide variety of audiences throughout the year. In this special one-day workshop, we’ll listen to excerpts from Johannes Brahms’ Symphony No. 1, which will be performed by the NPO in their upcoming concert series on October 6th and 8th. The instructor will guide you as you write sensory and emotional responses to the music. At the end, you’ll have the option to share these responses to be printed and displayed at the NPO concert venues. This workshop is designed for listeners and writers of all levels, and no prior knowledge of classical music is required!

Leslie Hinson is a ghostwriter, fiction writer, and editor living in Nashville, TN. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in fiction from Sewanee, University of the South. She is an assistant editor at The Northwest Review literary journal. She also maintains a roster of long-form copy clients, creating their blogs, email outreach, and other written materials.

In 2021, Leslie became a ghostwriter at Scribe Media. Leslie has a varied professional background––ranging from teaching French to marketing indie books to running a small music school––which culminates beautifully in her ability to write from different professional points of view. Her many personal interests (music, travel, film, language learning, etymology, human anatomy and physiology, biodiversity––the list goes on!) all inform her ability to craft lush detail around anyone’s story. At Scribe, Leslie quickly carved out a niche as an excellent writer of memoirs and science knowledge-share books.
