Join us for an invigorating generative writing session focused on the craft of screenwriting, led by JR Robles, co-host of Nashville's Dare To Fail Film Festival. The class will go over a foundational primer on screenwriting and directing, designed to help you draft your own micro-short film (with minimal equipment, even with your phone). You'll come away inspired to create something that's ready to submit for the Dare To Fail showcase on September 29.

What is Dare To Fail? Founded with the goal of democratizing filmmaking, Dare to Fail Film Festival (DTF) offers a monthly showcase where creativity meets brevity. These micro-films, running about one minute each, are a testament to what can be achieved with concise storytelling. Hosted by the dynamic duo, Steve Parnell and JR Robles, DTF is a platform for burgeoning filmmakers to experiment, engage, and inspire.

What Our Students Say

"JR was an amazing instructor. He welcomed screenwriters of all levels, including beginners like myself. He was warm, encouraging, and spoke out of experience as a writer and actor. His writing exercise was unique and memorable. I would definitely take another class with him in the future!"

"JR was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable! I'm very new to screenwriting/acting, but as a writer who's incorporating aspects of those worlds into my manuscript, JR broke it down simply while touching on the most important points. He kept the class engaging and fun, and I came out of it with a lot more direction. Thanks, JR!"

"I appreciated the different perspectives JR gave on writing when it comes to acting. I had never thought about the actor’s relationship to the other characters, or how the actor might approach the relationship. It certainly changed the way I look at dialogue and how that dialogue can come across to the reader/actor!"
